Spring is the name of my horse but she is much more to me than just a horse. She is a very important part of my life. Naturally when the opportunity to build a test store came,my instinct was to combine my love for Spring and e-commerce. I find myself wishing I was building this business for real.
But back to Spring, what can I say girls and horses! Even if you are not horse crazy, it is still easy to appreciate the beauty and strength of a horse. For me I think I loved horses from the moment I knew what a horse was. It was not until grade 6 that I had the opportunity to actually be around horses. I began babysitting and doing barn chores for a lady that owned a horse business. It gave me the opportunity to learn about horses which was my dream come true! I did not mind all the hard work because it brought me closer to horses and understanding them. I learned a lot and eventually got my own horse. Over the years I have owned/leased a number of hoses. The first that was truly my own was an amazing horse named Pepper but sadly she passed away from cancer. I did not think that I would ever love another horse as much as I loved her. I spent the next year missing a piece of myself. I found that life was not the same without a horse. I decided it was time to get back in the saddle when I realized that loving another would not mean I was letting go of Pepper. I will always miss my old friend Pepper but I had more love to give. The problem comes though when you try and find the RIGHT horse, the perfect horse for you. When I met Spring something clicked right away. It’s been six years and each time we are together I am reminded how lucky I am to have her and that I cannot imagine my life without her. We’ve gone from strangers to friends to family.
There is a famous quote "There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man (woman)." This is so true.
It is felt by many horse people including myself that the bond between a person and their horse brings an ability to look within oneself. My horse Spring does that for me. When I spend time with her I can just be in the present. Whether I am watching her graze or we are running through the forest it is just me and her. Life stands still and it is a feeling like no other. It is this connection that allows me to regroup, rejuvenate and recharge. It makes me a better friend, family member and person. She brings me happiness that is unique and cannot be duplicated any other way.
So when you ask the question, who is Spring of Spring Saddlery. She is heart, she is soul, she is friend, she is family. She is mine and I am hers.
